How to Install BuddyPress Custom Profile Menu Plugin, Manually

Minimum Requirements
- WordPress 3.3 or greater
- BuddyPress 2.6 or greater
Automatic installation (recommended)
Automatic installation lets WordPress automatically fetch the plugin and install it on your webserver’s WordPress plugins folder. To do an automatic install of the plugin, log in to your WordPress admin panel, navigate to the Plugins menu and click Add New.
In the search field type “BuddyPress Custom Profile Menu” and click Search Plugins. Once you’ve found our plugin, simply click “Install Now”. After clicking the link you will be asked if you’re sure you want to install the plugin. Click yes and WordPress will automatically complete the installation.
Manual installation
The manual installation method involves downloading our plugin and uploading it to your webserver via your favourite FTP application.
- Download the plugin file to your computer and unzip it
- Using an FTP program, or any other means you are comfortable with, upload the unzipped plugin folder to your WordPress installation’s wp-content/plugins/ directory.
- Activate the plugin from the Plugins menu within the WordPress admin.
Upgrading
Automatic updates should work well. As with any other upgrade, please always ensure you backup your site beforehand.
Getting Started
To start using the BuddyPress Custom Profile Menu plugin, please follow these simple steps:

Create a custom WordPress menu, with a menu item for each custom tab needed. To create a new custom menu, from the WordPress admin panel navigate to Appearance->Menus. Now click on the plus (+) button to add a new menu. Once the menu is added, start adding pages to the menu as you normally would. Each added page with automatically create a new tab in the BuddyPress profile menu. Each tab will be titled with the page title, and its contents will be automatically fetched from the page contents.

Setup the plugin’s settings by navigating to Settings->BuddyPress Custom Profile Menu. From the settings page, select the custom menu created on the earlier step.

Navigate to the front-end and checkout your new tabs! 🙂
